All pruning at Independent Tree Care follows ANSI A300 Part 1 standards. We never top trees. Every cut is made with a clear objective — whether that's clearance pruning, crown thinning, deadwood removal, or structural training for young trees.

When a tree develops structural weaknesses — co-dominant stems, heavy lateral limbs, or storm damage — removal isn't always the answer. Cabling and bracing systems provide engineered supplemental support that allows a tree to remain safely in place for decades.

We install extra high-strength steel cables and threaded rod braces following ANSI A300 Part 3 standards. Each installation is preceded by a full structural assessment to determine the optimal anchor points, hardware specifications, and load requirements for your specific tree.

One of the most overlooked threats to mature trees is improper planting depth or soil accumulation over the root collar — the critical zone where the trunk transitions to roots. When this area is buried, girdling roots develop, bark rots, and the tree slowly declines over years or decades.

Using specialized air excavation equipment, we carefully remove excess soil and debris from around the root collar without damaging the delicate surface roots. This non-invasive process restores the tree's natural flare, improves gas exchange, and dramatically reduces the risk of long-term structural failure.
